Greetings from the University of Brahmanbaria (UB), Bangladesh!

The University of Brahmanbaria has been home to talented students and faculty drawn from reputed higher learning institutions to teach, create, and study. Historically, Brahmanabaria is known as the ‘cultural capital’ of Bangladesh. Durinzg the British era, this region produced great music personalities of the world like Ustad Alauddin Khan, Ustad Ayet Ali Khan and many more. Brahmanbaria has been the soil of liberal, progressive and humanistic thoughts and actions by innumerable intellectual, literary and music personalities. Over the decades, Brahmanbaria has lost part of its glory. UB is an initiative to rediscover cultural richness and grandeur of the district of Brahmanbaria and its people.

There is an increasing divide in our society at various levels. Particularly, inequality and divide between villages and towns, urban and rural settings have been growingly in an alarming manner. I strongly believe that the University of Brahmanbaria (UB) will contribute to reduce this gap. Knowledge is the universally recognized instrument to fight against discrimination, inequality and backwardness. The University of Brahmanbaria will empower young generations to come forward and be the agent of social change.

Bangladesh is committed to fulfill the target of 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) declared by the United Nations in 2015. Goal 4 of the SDGs highlights the importance of quality education in society. Particularly, it calls for ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. UB strives to be part of our national journey to fulfill the target of quality education specifically at tertiary level. It may be mentioned that central to our success is an outstanding faculty that instills a thorough understanding of education through its skilled, enthusiastic teaching, research and service.
