Mr. Tajwar Bin Maleque Arnob joined the Department of Law at the University of Brahmanbaria (UoB) as a Lecturer. Mr. Arnob holds LL.M. in Maritime Law and LL.B. (Hons.) from Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU). His postgraduate research, titled “Human Rights at Sea: Embedding Gender Equality in Maritime Governance,” examines the integration of human rights and gender equality into international maritime governance and legal frameworks. During his undergraduate studies, he was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship in recognition of his academic excellence. He was also offered a competitive merit-based scholarship for admission to the UNESCO UMSAILS LL.M. Programme.
Prior to joining UoB, Mr. Arnob gained over four years of professional experience in legal research, corporate law, litigation and policy analysis. He practices as an Advocate before the District and Sessions Judge Court, Dhaka and previously served as Associate Case Manager and Deputy Head of the Employment & Investment Legal Department at Attorney Raju Mahajan & Associates, a U.S.-based law firm.
Throughout his professional career, Mr. Arnob has contributed to legal research, advocacy, policy development and justice-sector initiatives as a researcher, consultant and legal associate with national and international organisations, including the Centre for Peace and Justice, BRAC University, National Center for State Courts (NCSC), Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), The Law Counsel, Shipping Lawyers Bangladesh and Justice & Care through Progress Inc.
His professional and research interests encompass maritime, labour, immigration, commercial, intellectual property, criminal and refugee law as well as legal aid, human trafficking, legal reform, access to justice and evidence-based policy research. He has also completed numerous professional training programmes and actively participated in academic seminars, conferences and workshops.
Alongside his professional practice, Mr. Arnob has remained actively engaged in legal education, legal research, academic mentoring and moot court activities. He has previously held leadership and executive positions in the Bangladesh Law Alliance (BLA), BMU Language and Debate Club, BMU Law & Moot Court Society and the Network for International Law Students (NILS) among others. He is also a member of the Dhaka Bar Association and is committed to promoting practice-oriented and research-driven legal education.
With his academic background in maritime law, professional experience across diverse areas of legal practice, and engagement in legal research and justice-sector initiatives, Mr. Arnob brings a multidisciplinary and practice-oriented perspective to legal education at the University of Brahmanbaria.
