Department of Sociology

Ms. Rayan Kabir Oishy is a sociologist and Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Brahmanbaria. She holds a B.S.S. (Honours) and M.S.S. in Sociology from the University of Dhaka. Her academic interests include public health, medical sociology, health inequality, migration and contemporary social issues.

Her academic research includes a monograph titled “Lifestyle & Socio-Economic Impacts on Chronic Kidney Disease – A Study in Urban Bangladesh”focusing on the social and lifestyle dimensions of chronic illness. She has also contributed to a research project titled “Rohingya Relocation to Bhasan Char: International Allegations, Media Narratives, and the Bangladesh Government’s Response,” which examined international allegations, media narratives, and the government’s response to the relocation of Rohingya refugees.

Alongside her academic work, she has been actively involved student leadership, debating, and social initiatives. She has served in various leadership roles at the University of Dhaka. She currently serves as the President of Titas-Dhaka University Students’ Association of Brahmanbaria, where she has been actively engaged in student development, organizing academic and cultural activities, and promoting student welfare. With a strong passion for teaching and research, she is committed to creating engaging learning environments, encouraging critical thinking, and supporting students in developing a deeper understanding of society.
