University of Brahmanbaria Showcases Smart Microgrid Innovation at Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026

Dhaka, 14 September 2026: The University of Brahmanbaria (UOB) participated in the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026, held over three days, from 12 to 14 September 2026, at Novo Theater, Dhaka.

Representing the University, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) showcased an innovative research project titled “Distributed Hybrid Power System Integrated with Smart Microgrid.” Mr. Iftekhar Haider Nuren, Senior Lecturer, Department of EEE, designed and implemented the project with a dedicated team of EEE students.

The showcased system integrates renewable energy sources, battery storage, intelligent power management, household loads, and the national grid through a smart microgrid framework. The project demonstrates a practical approach to addressing critical challenges in the power sector while promoting efficient, reliable, sustainable, and intelligent energy management.

Throughout the three-day fair, the UOB team engaged with visitors, researchers, professionals, potential customers, and industry stakeholders at Stall No. 87. The participation provided the students with valuable real-world experience in professional exhibitions, technical presentations, public communication, teamwork, and explaining complex technological concepts to diverse audiences.

The fair also created opportunities to explore the practical and commercial potential of the research project. Through direct interaction with visitors and potential customers, the EEE team identified potential business opportunities, demonstrating how academic research can be connected with practical applications and future commercialization.

Md. Mominur Rahman, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), University of Brahmanbaria, was present throughout all three days of the fair and contributed to the team’s activities and engagement during the event.

Mr. Nahid Hassan, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), University of Brahmanbaria, also visited the UOB stall and interacted with the team during the fair.

On the final day of the fair, Honourable Founding Trustee of the University of Brahmanbaria, Dr. Md. Taufiqul Islam Mithil, visited the UOB stall and interacted with the team. He observed the showcased innovation and shared valuable thoughts, encouragement, and guidance with the team members. His presence and words of appreciation served as an important source of motivation for the students and faculty involved in the project.

The three-day participation in Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 provided the University with an opportunity to demonstrate how research and innovation can move beyond the laboratory and contribute to practical technological solutions. It also offered students valuable exposure to real-world innovation, professional communication, stakeholder engagement, and potential industry applications.
